The Northlake Tavern and Pizza opened in 1954 at a site just a few blocks from the present location. It actually originated in the 30's in another part of town and obtained the second Tavern license issued in the state.
Our special kind of pizza featured here originated from an old Italian recipe. To get this fantastic taste we went to an old friend in New York who had an Italian Restaurant and made the best pizza. After experimenting with various kinds of toppings and crusts the Northlake Pizza was born.
Resembling a cake more than a pie, our pizza requires special attention while cooking to ensure that the many pounds of toppings and crust are done to our standards.
There is no "Extra cheese" at Northlake, every pizza is made with as much Mozzarella cheese as cooking allows. Annually we use enough cheese to keep a herd of thirtyfive dairy cows busy. That's not to mention the tons of beef sausage, pepperoni (Our pepperoni is custom made for us with our own recipe) and real Canadian Bacon that goes along with the cheese and our own pizza sauces.
Don't think for a minute that the quality stops there... Fresh mushrooms, fresh onions, fresh green peppers and fresh tomatoes all adorn the Northlake pizza. Being in Seattle has it's drawbacks concerning pineapple, but we still use the best, Hawaiian!
WORTH WAITING FOR... We do not hurry our pizzas... They are cooked slowly in our large ovens to retain all the flavors. Our pizzas are huge with all the toppings flowing over the edges... So be hungry and be prepared to take some home!
